Donut flavored ice cream? I was immediately intrigued. When I noticed that they only serve their ice cream in waffle cups, I knew I was in heaven. Lake Street Creamery is an adorable little custom food truck, decked out in all things 1950’s, even blasting Elvis from their speakers, forcing my two-year-old to do a mean little hokey-pokey as he waited for his dessert. The charm of this powder blue set of wheels will pull you in, but the decadence of its creamy, unique flavors will have you coming back again and again! Find Lake Street on Twitter and search them out when they come near, your taste buds will thank you.
The donut flavored ice cream will trick you into thinking you’re enjoying the best cake donut of your life. I don’t understand how they do it, but with pure magic this husband and wife team take everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure and make it a little more guilty and a million times more pleasurable. Add some sprinkles and you’ll feel like you’ve traveled in time to the best moment of your childhood. The Pancake Breakfast is a mixture of cakey, satisfying flapjacks, maple syrup and pieces of bacon, sprinkled with fresh ground coffee….may sound a bit out of this world and believe me it is, in the most incredible way possible. Other sensational flavors include California Zephyr, which is Tahitian vanilla ice cream with bits of lemon and mint; a special Strawberry flavor with basil; and Banana with Nutella mixed in. The Banana makes a great ice cream soda, when covered in their chocolate soda. I have not stopped thinking about this ice cream soda since that moment and cannot wait to find the Lake Street Creamery in my neighborhood again. The $6 has a special place in my wallet, waiting patiently for the beautiful moment to occur.
